In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of volunteering, CareSource encourages more healthcare organizations to commit to the vibrancy, prosperity, and health of their communities.
Their local message to volunteer, resonates with Oregonians and amplifies the spirit to get involved. Leading by example, many CareSource employees are active volunteers and are often seen in the community helping others, from coaching little league teams to serving on boards of local non-profits.
“CareSource was founded to provide residents of Southern Oregon more affordable healthcare, more choices, and greater access to physicians”, said Debbie Jarrett, Marketing Supervisor.
In 2004, the Mid Rogue Independent Physicians Association, a group of local physicians, received authorization from the State of Oregon to offer health insurance. CareSource was then established to offer eligible residents an alternative to Original Medicare.
With an emphasis on member education, CareSource sets itself apart from other Medicare Advantage plans and attributes these efforts to their ongoing success.
Currently, CareSource serves more than 4,000 members and offers benefits that far exceed those of Original Medicare. CareSource offers members vision care, counseling support, acupuncture, routine chiropractic, and memberships at local health clubs at a reduced rate.
In addition to their healthcare insurance plans, CareSource reflects a commitment within their community through their support of non-profit organizations (through their annual Social Accountability grants). They support free community health programs and care for thousands of low-income patients.
As part of the Southern Oregon community, CareSource is proud of both past and present work to support these organizations either through direct funding or in-kind services.
